Little Canine Wonders

IMG_1407I would miss a great deal without the dogs reminding me to look out the window.  Although they sleep for 20 hrs a day, they still manage to never miss a thing.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA I’m often asked how you train a setter to point a bird.  My response is that you train them to have manners…the rest they already know.  All of our setters have bumbled through the stages of pointing to become the staunch pointers they are today.  Well…Inca may need to bumble onward a bit more.  Above is a picture of honoring.  Honoring is a setter’s natural tendency  to trust the dog in front of them and to point where they’re pointing.  Inca has a hard time not being the leader.  But for this slice of time she respected the hunting prowess of Lily and honored her point.

This is Lily, aka Brillo Pad.  And then there’s Inca, aka Teflon.  Lily and Inca will dance through the same section of brush and Inca will appear dew ridden and resplendent and Lily will appear like this.  But man that dog can hunt.

Admit it…your heart just broke a little bit.  This is how my dog sleeps.  She is simply that precious.
